A GLASS OF MILK
One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry.

He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.

Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, How much do I owe you?"

You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness."

He said ... "Then I thank you from my heart."

As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Many year's later that same young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease.

Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes.

Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room.

Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once.

He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to her case.

After a long struggle, the battle was won.

Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for s he was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She read these words ...

"Paid in full with one glass of milk"

Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thank You,
God, that Your love has spread broad through human hearts and hands."

There's a saying which goes something like this: Bread cast on the waters comes back to you. The good deed you do today may benefit you or someone you love at the least expected time. If you never see the deed again at least you will have made the world a better place - And, after all, isn't that what life is all about?

Now you have two choices.

Due to irreconcilable differences between the City of San Felipe and one of the San Felipe Ejido land groups, the race is being moved to Ensenada. SCORE deeply regrets any inconvenience this may cause, however, this situation has absolutely nothing to due with the past
or present conduct of SCORE International." This is off the Score web site Tuesday February 27, 2007...

There is much more to this story, first of all business owners in San Felipe appreciate the good work Score International off road racing has done in the past... This year things are much different, most of you don't wait till 5 days before pre-run week to get your race machine prepared to win the Baja 250, you do this 8 months or so before the event is this right or wrong ??? I and many others feel this is very neglect on the part of Score International they should have got all there ducks in a row months ago... Many business owners put in thousands of dollars in past years in cash out of our pockets to pay so the race could go on, this money was given to Score International to pay to use the roads across some of the Ejido land... The hotel, motel, and condo business owners could have rented all of their rooms to the Spring Break groups that request to come to San Felipe at the same time the Baja 250 race is held but we all appreciate the many years of racing in San Felipe as a great annual event so we keep all the rooms for you the people investing time and much money to make this a great event... Now because of a money issue and wanting many things given to them for FREE Score International has decided to change the race to another Baja venue...

Some feel this is a selfish course of action and we will be seeking a legal solution to this problem we also feel this has placed an unreasonable burden on all of the people participating in this race... By the way we here in San Felipe have no official word from anyone the race is moved to another location... We feel that all party's should get back to the table and get this resolved ASAP...

I had meet today with all the people involved the Mayor and head of the Ejido also over 80 business people from San Felipe were also in attendants, the meeting took place at city hall. There is a problem this would not have been a problem if Score would have meet with the Ejido, the meeting was to take place 15 days after the Baja 250 race 2006 and agreement would have been made at that time this is pre Samuel Gonzalez Lares President of the Ejido Plan National Agrario this was the only Ejido with a problem and could have been resolved back in March 2006...

It was also possible for Score to map out another route and they were in the process of doing. My son an I spoke with the person marking the course for Score (Paul) on the garbage road near town Friday February 23, 2007 and that was the plan per the Score person I spoke with... So what happened to that option ??? We also hear that Score was talking about moving the race 5 years ago to another Baja venue...

We here in San Felipe feel sad about loosing the race but I feel it could have been worked out if people would have sat down early on and worked out a 5 or 10 year plan... Thanks, good luck to all of you in Ensenada, Tuesday February 27, 2007 3:01pm

Many people are boycotting the Baja 250 race from Ensenada to Santo Tomas because this is their family vacation time each year in San Felipe for the Baja 250 Pre Run Week, They have made plans here for many years...

We have many people keeping their reservations and saying Score should have done a better job and worked harder early on, they say "we are not going to let them wreck our family vacation"...

We found only one issue to prevent the race in San Felipe, that was with the Ejido Plan National Agrario, this is only one of many Ejido in the area... We had this issue for the last ten year that I know of and each year it got worked out. The business people in San Felipe gave many thousands of dollars so the race could go through the Ejido... The alternative plan was not to go over the Ejido Plan National Agrario land, that would have been no problem, all of the other Ejido had no problem with the race going over their land, but Score decided to dump on all of us not only here in San Felipe but all of the race teams and others that took many hours to plan this even... Thanks Score for the many headaches you gave us all !!! Put pressure on Score we could still have the race in San Felipe this year, all of us here will help !!! This has been a busy day we have been meeting with the Ejido Plan National Agrario, on the phone with Sal Fish the president & owner of Score international off road racing, Bruce Ogilvie & Johnny Campbell with Honda of a America and many other teams and people involved in the race all the involved people would love to have the race in San Felipe this year 2007 we can make it happen... If we lay a new course out in no time that would not have to go over Ejido Plan National Agrario land, Bruce Ogilvie said it would not be hard to do and still could be a very nice race here in San Felipe this year... We are asking all of you to call Sal Fish Score office 818 225-8402 and bend his ear I think he is a good guy but just needs to be convinced... We know the weather is cold & Overcast in Ensenada, and right now in San Felipe it is 78 just right and clear sky's... We love having the race here in San Felipe, and most of us feel sad not to see all the family back here and your kids growing up as we have for so many years... We really love you guys and your crazy sport, yes the money is good too but that is only part of it for me... Thanks so much... 28 Feb. 2007 6:38Pm PST

Here in San Felipe many are in shock and can not believe we are not having the Baja 250 race, many restaurants stock up on food that will now have to be put in the trash in a few days... (Now my wife and I have an excuse to go out and eat all next week) I guess all we can do is laugh about it because, we sure got ripped off in San Felipe... Motel & hotel owners could have rented most of the rooms to the many Spring Breaker groups that request reservations in this time frame... This is a big rip-off, was the general opinion of the motel and hotel groups... Some are saying we will loose over 7 Million US dollars the week of March 4 - 11 2007 The Baja 250 pre-run week, this is huge for a town the size of San Felipe... I spoke with one street vendor in tears and scared not know what she will do, in this week alone she would have made 1/4 of the money she makes all year to feed her family of 4 small kids under 6 years of age, she invested several hundreds of dollars for San Felipe Baja 250 tee shirts and hats, now she is looking for a way to get to Ensenada to sell some of them... The stories go on and on, I will keep you up dated later today... This is really no laughing mater we are looking for solutions and would appreciate your input... To bring you all up to speed, my son and I had meetings with many people and made phone calls to others on Thursday March 1, 2007... We got many conflicting stories I will lay out what we did and tell you what I think from all the people we spoke with... My interest in all of this is to bring the Baja 250 back to San Felipe where it should be... This is an old tradition for San Felipe , the many teams and individuals that do this race have expressed to me preferring this side of the Baja and not Ensenada , it is to cold and just not the small town feel that they like... I was told by Sal Fish he got a letter from the mayor of San Felipe via Fax or E-mail not sure Tuesday 27 of Feb. 2007 saying the race could not be held in San Felipe because all the Ejido would not let them cross their land... My son an I had a meeting with the Mayor C. Joaquin Sahagun Jimenez Delegado Municipal of San Felipe we asked for a copy of the original letter that went to Sal Fish and were told that was private but he gave us a press release copy of the letter this is only what the Mayor wants us to see... I called Sal Fish and asked for a copy of the letter sent to him and was told to get it from the Mayor of San Felipe, I told him that he would only give us a press release copy, we would like to see the original, but he refused our request referring us to his attorney Oscar Ramos... None of us now know what the Secret Letter says, but it cost all of us in San Felipe around 7 Million in losses this next week... Will post more later today 2 Mar. 2007 11:21am

The bottom line is even with the Ejido issue that we are told by the president of the Ejido and their legal counsel would not have been a problem, we could have had the race over the other Ejido's, the Press Release talk only of one Ejido...
